STOP, PAUSE AND BREATHE. Who hasn’t got a moment in their days to do this when it reaps such replenishing rewards. It can help us gently shift from ‘fight or flight’ to ‘rest and digest’, triggering the relaxation response and calming the body down. As Nicole Mahabir says in CBC Life:
“ Long, deep breaths can also manage our stress responses to help decrease anxiety, fear, racing thoughts, a rapid heartbeat and shallow chest breathing. These responses can directly impact our physical, mental and emotional health, and longevity”.
One conscious breath can help you re-set your buttons when feeling agitated and tired. This will then help to act as your springboard into future moments and will colour and influence your next behaviours and your subsequent impact whether at work or home!
Remember when you feel anxious, or reactive in some way consider:
STOP, PAUSE AND BREATHE.
